What is the Date Reservation Service?
The Date Reservation Service from Denmark Wedding Services is a stand-alone service for couples who applied to Familieretshuset themselves, have been approved to marry in Denmark and still cannot get a ceremony date. For a fixed fee of €499.00 we monitor the online booking system of your kommune around the clock and reserve the first free date with your own booking link. The service covers the date reservation only — no document preparation, translation or apostille.
How it works
- ·Danish kommuner add ceremony dates at random, unannounced moments — there is no schedule to watch.
- ·Those dates are taken within seconds — usually by other couples, agencies and automated services.
- ·We monitor your kommune around the clock and reserve the first available date using your own booking link.
- ·You are not asked to approve the date first — consulting you would lose the slot (§4 of the agreement).
- ·Witnesses: Danish law requires two. Many town halls provide them free of charge, but often only in certain time slots (for example Aabenraa Monday to Thursday, Tønder on Tuesday and Thursday mornings); otherwise you bring your own. Please check the rule for your kommune and for the slot we reserve.

What you need to start
- Your approval from Familieretshuset, the Danish Agency of Family Law.
- The booking link you received with the approval — valid and not yet used.
- The kommune where you want to marry, for example Tønder, Aabenraa or Copenhagen.
- The consent of both partners: you sign the agreement, pay the fee and then send us the link through a secure form.
Price and refund
The fee is a fixed €499.00 for one kommune. Monitoring starts on the first night after your payment and a valid booking link have reached us, and it runs until a date is reserved or your booking link or approval expires.
If no ceremony date is secured in that time, we refund 50% of the fee (€249.50), unless the reason lies with you, for example a booking link that was already used or has expired (§6.5 and §8 of the agreement). Nobody can guarantee a date: only the kommune decides whether and when dates are released. All terms are in the agreement you sign before you pay.
Frequently asked questions
Is a ceremony date guaranteed?
No. Only the kommune decides whether and when dates are released, and other couples and services compete for the same slots. We keep trying around the clock; if no date is secured before the service ends, 50% of the fee (€249.50) is refunded, unless the reason lies with you, for example a booking link that was already used or has expired (§6.5 and §8 of the agreement).
Can we choose the date or the weekday?
No. Free dates disappear within seconds, so we reserve the first date that appears at your kommune — any weekday and any time within its ceremony hours — without asking you first. If you need one specific date, this service is not the right fit.
How will we know that a date has been reserved?
We email you as soon as a date is reserved, and in any case within one working day. You can also open your case at any time with the link in your confirmation email.
May we keep trying to book a date ourselves?
No. While the agreement runs, neither you nor anyone else may book a date for you. If a date is booked another way, the service counts as completed and the full fee is kept (§8 of the agreement).
We have not applied to Familieretshuset yet — what should we do?
Then this service is not for you yet. Our Comfort Package (€799.00, Danish authority fee included) covers the document check, the application to Familieretshuset, the booking of your ceremony date and two witnesses.
How long is the approval valid?
An approval from Familieretshuset is generally valid for four months, and for less if a passport, visa or residence permit expires earlier. The wedding has to take place within that period, so it pays to start the search early.
