How is the checklist personalised?

The checklist is built from the answers you gave in the free document checklist on our website — both partners’ nationalities, residence, and previous marriages — and from what our team knows about your case. As your documents arrive and your application progresses, the app reflects it.

Previously married — the divorce decree with its finality confirmation is added

No — the app is guidance only. Documents are submitted once, through the secure upload step on our website, where they are encrypted and handled by our team. The app then shows you which documents we have received and which are still missing.

Can the AI chat assistant give real legal advice?

No — the AI assistant is a documentation and process guide, not a legal advisor. It can explain Familieretshuset requirements, list document types, describe timelines and walk through procedural steps. For binding legal advice on edge cases (complex divorce histories, asylum status, statelessness), we refer couples to Danish family-law specialists.

How does the app handle couples speaking different languages?

Each partner can set their own interface language — English, German or Russian — and switch at any time. The chat with your DWS team works in all three languages, so partners can write in the language they are most comfortable with.
